Amazon Queen (2021)
Plot: The film centers on the riverboat "Queen" as it takes a group of tourists on an idyllic cruise up the Rio Negro in the Amazon Rainforest of Brazil. The boat is captained by Jackie Santos, who is struggling to maintain the ship both financially and mechanically. The diverse group of passengers includes thieves (Machado and Silva) who are secretly posing as tourists. Their true mission is to take over the boat and search the jungle for a downed plane carrying stolen money they desperately want to recover. As the journey turns into a nightmare, the passengers and crew become hostages. The film follows the group's attempts to outwit their captors and survive in the hostile environment, suggesting that the jungle itself will ultimately determine who lives and who dies. There are also underlying themes of family drama, romance, and ecological concerns for the Amazon.
