Year: 1945
Plot: Teenage music student Sherry Williams idolizes her older sister, Josephine "Jo," who she believes is a major Broadway musical comedy star. While performing in a school play, Sherry meets famous Broadway producer Arthur Hale, who is encouraging after overhearing a classmate ridicule Sherry's sister. On a surprise trip to New York with a friend, Sherry is crushed to discover that Jo is actually a headlining performer in a tawdry burlesque house under the name "Bubbles Barton." Determined to help her sister quit the burlesque business, Sherry—who is only 15—dresses up to look older and schemes to win the starring role in Arthur Hale's new musical, inadvertently causing a series of comedic complications and sparking a romance between Arthur and Jo.
