Grand Canyon Trail (1948)
Plot: Roy Rogers is a rancher whose partners invest a substantial amount of money into a silver mining venture in the deserted ghost town of Sintown, only to be told by the mine's engineer, Bill Regan, that the mine is worthless and the owner, J. Malcolm Vanderpool, is bankrupt. Vanderpool's determined secretary, Carol Martin, travels to Sintown impersonating the owner's daughter to investigate. She soon discovers that Regan is a corrupt mining engineer who has found a new mother lode of silver and has kidnapped Old Ed Carruthers, the prospector who made the find, to keep the secret for himself. Regan tries to frighten Carol away by lodging her in a "haunted" hotel. Roy, along with his comic partner Cookie Bullfincher, his horse Trigger, and Old Ed's mule Genevieve, must rescue the prospector, expose Regan as the real villain, and save the mine before the villains can steal the silver.
