Here Comes Trouble
Year: 1948
Plot: Returning from army service in the Pacific, Dorian "Dodo" Doubleday (William Tracy) resumes his old job as a copy boy at a newspaper. His girlfriend, Penny, pushes her father, the newspaper's editor "Windy" Blake, to give Dodo a raise so they can marry. Blake, who despises Dodo, gives him the dangerous assignment of police reporter, hoping the local gangsters he's crusading against will get rid of him. Dodo teams up with his former Army sergeant, Officer Ames (Joe Sawyer), to investigate an organized crime ring. The plot involves blackmail against the publisher by a burlesque queen named Bubbles LaRue, who is then murdered. Dodo and Ames must then solve the murder and break up the mob, leading to a frantic chase that culminates in a burlesque house.
