House of Good and Evil

Plot: After a traumatic family tragedy in the city—a miscarriage following a physical altercation—Chris and Maggie Conley move to a secluded, rural home with no electricity or phone service in a last-ditch effort to save their dying marriage. The house is a duplex, with the other side supposedly occupied by a reclusive elderly couple, the Andersons. Alone for long stretches of time while her firefighter husband is at work, Maggie begins to experience strange occurrences and unsettling sounds, leading her to question her sanity and her husband's honesty. The film is a slow-burn psychological thriller that explores themes of domestic violence, trauma, and isolation, ultimately leading to a shocking twist that re-contextualizes all the mysterious events as a descent into madness.
