Man with Two Lives (1942) Plot: The story follows Philip Bennett, a wealthy young man who is killed in a car accident on the night of his engagement party. His grieving father pleads with Dr. Clark, a scientist known for his work in reviving the dead, to bring his son back to life. Coincidentally, at the exact moment Dr. Clark successfully revives Philip, a notorious gangster named Panino is executed in the electric chair. Panino's wicked soul is transferred into Philip's body. Philip is physically alive but wakes up with severe amnesia and a drastically changed, cruel personality. He quickly abandons his former life, fiancée, and family, and is inexplicably drawn to the underworld. Operating under a new name, Philip becomes the ruthless new leader of Panino's old gang, embarking on a vengeful crime wave. His family and a psychology professor become increasingly alarmed, realizing that Philip is physically alive but spiritually possessed by the executed criminal. A final confrontation with the police ensues, leading to the "Philip/Panino" character's death, which is ultimately revealed to be a vivid dream Philip had while in a coma after the car accident.
