Paradise Island
Year: 1930
Plot: Socialite Ellen Bradford travels to the remote South Pacific island of Tonga to marry her fiancé, Roy Armstrong. However, she is dismayed to find that Roy has become a drunken wreck, heavily in debt to "Dutch Mike" Lutze, the gangster who controls the island. Determined to save her fiancé, Ellen seeks help from Jim Thorne, a handsome sea captain stranded on Tonga. As she attempts to free Roy from the clutches of the gangster, she finds her initial mission becoming less important as she falls in love with Jim. The film is a pre-Code adventure and romance that also deals with themes of the exotic South Seas and features a musical number.
