Silver Spurs (1943)
Plot: Roy Rogers, the "King of the Cowboys," gets involved in a scheme to seize control of a massive, oil-rich ranch. Roy is trying to secure a railroad right-of-way through the property for his boss, Jerry Johnson, who has recently inherited the ranch. The ambitious and nefarious resort owner, Lucky Miller, is determined to take the ranch for himself. Miller arranges for a woman to travel West to marry Jerry, and then has his henchman murder the new owner shortly after the wedding. To ensure Roy is blamed, Miller's men switch the murder weapon with Roy's gun, landing Roy in jail. Roy and his sidekick, Frog (Smiley Burnette), must escape and race to clear Roy's name and expose Miller's plot.
