The Dunwich Horror (2008)
Plot: This loose, modern adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft novella is set in Louisiana instead of the original Massachusetts. It begins with the birth of a monstrous baby boy, Wilbur Whateley, to a single mother, Lavina, in the mysterious Whateley House. Ten years later, Wilbur is a rapidly-aged man (played by Jeffrey Combs) who is connected to a dark prophecy concerning a demonic portal and the forbidden book, the Necronomicon. Meanwhile, Dr. Henry Armitage (Dean Stockwell) and his colleagues, Professor Fay Morgan and Professor Walter Rice, discover that a critical page (page 751) is missing from every copy of the Necronomicon. They believe the ancient evil known as Yog-Sothoth is attempting to use Wilbur to fully open the gate to the Old Ones. Wilbur, who requires the missing page for his ritual, abducts a woman to feed a monstrous, unseen entity that resides in the Whateley farmhouse, forcing the professors to race against time to find the book, stop Wilbur, and close the demonic portal before a world-ending event is unleashed.
