The House of Secrets (1936)
Plot: Globe-trotter Barry Wilding is immediately smitten with the mysterious Julie Kenmore after rescuing her from an annoying passenger on a ship to England, but she refuses to give him her name or address. Upon arriving in London, Barry learns he has inherited a large, secluded English estate called "The Hawk's Nest." When he goes to claim his property, he is aggressively turned away by trespassers who have taken up residence—among them, the mysterious Julie and her father. As a gang of criminals, including a murderer, also try to break into the mansion looking for hidden treasure, Barry discovers that the house is full of strange secrets, hidden passages, and is somehow connected to a wider conspiracy involving the authorities. He must try to solve the mystery of the house and rescue Julie while dodging danger from all sides.
