The Old Barn Dance Year: 1938
Plot: Singing cowboy and horse trader Gene Autry's business is threatened when an unscrupulous company owner, Mr. Thornton, floods the market by selling tractors to local farmers and ranchers, often with predatory financing. To make money, Gene and his sidekick, Frog Millhouse, accept a contract to perform on a small, struggling radio station run by Sally Dawson. Gene is unaware that the program is secretly sponsored by the crooked tractor company. When the farmers default on their loans and blame Gene for endorsing the tractors, Gene and his friends destroy the incriminating record of his broadcast. They eventually manage to expose Thornton's scheme using another secretly recorded message, save the farmers' land, and restore Gene's good name.
