Gernot Roll was born on April 9, 1939 in Dresden, Germany. He was a cinematographer and director, known for Radetzkymarsch (1994), Nirgendwo in Afrika (2001) and Die Andere Heimat - Chronik einer Sehnsucht (2013). He was married to Rita Serra-Roll. He died on November 12, 2020 in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
