Tamari Abakelya was born on September 1, 1905 in Khoni, Kutaisi Governorate, Russian Empire [now Imereti, Republic of Georgia]. She was a costume designer and production designer, known for Arsena (1937), Davit Guramishvili (1946) and Giorgi Saakadze (1942). She died on May 14, 1953 in Tbilisi, Georgian SSR, USSR [now Republic of Georgia].
