Tracie was born in Bolton, Lancashire, the daughter of a miner, she left
school at sixteen and started as a tax officer but after a year decided to
act and eventually joined the cast of television's Coronation Street in
the part of Sharon Gaskell, the foster daughter of Len and Rita
Fairclough.
