Born and raised in New York City, Alberto Colombo served as a cellist
with the Manhattan Opera House Orchestra, and later became the manager.
He toured with Paul Whiteman, as an arranger, before joining RKO as a
music director in 1934.
He joined Republic Pictures in 1937 as an arranger, conductor and
composer. He worked at MGM as a music director from 1950 until his
death.
