Best known as the editor of the acclaimed LGBT history documentary, Before Stonewall (1984), Bill Daughton's two short films as a director played widely at gay and lesbian film festivals. His first short film Corner of the Circle (also known as: "It's not easy to be gay, even in New York") came out in 1975. His second short, Halloweenie (1985) offered a quirky account of gay activist Bob Lyss attending the annual Greenwich Village Halloween parade, dressed as a giant penis. Halloweenie was nominated for the Gold Hugo Award at the 1986 Chicago International Film Festival. For his work as an editor Bill was nominated for a Cable ACE Award in 1985 (for his work on America Undercover's "Acts of Violence" episode). Bill passed away in 1987.
