Karl Emil Franzos was born on October 25, 1848 in Tschortkiw, Galicia, Austria-Hungary [now Chortkiv, Ukraine]. He was a writer, known for Der Präsident (1919), Judith Trachtenberg (1920) and Jidisze tochter (1933). He was married to Ottilie Benedikt. He died on January 28, 1904 in Berlin, Germany.
