Born into an artistic family Else saw the light of day in Paris.
Daughter of Norwegian artist Fritz Thaulow and a Danish mother, she
came to Denmark at the age of 3. Touring Scandinavia with her first
husband, singer Louis Frölich, she was a great sensation - especially
in Norway 1909. Made her film debut in 1911 with Nordisk Film. Along
with Clara With and Ebba Thomsen she was hugely popular with audiences
during 1911-1918. Her co-stars would often be Valdemar Psilander and
Anton de Verdier.
Chubby and erotic she would present herself with an erect posture in
several romantic dramas. Later in life she became a story and screen
writer. Her son Henrik Sandberg became a prolific and successful
producer of Dirch Passer vehicles in the 1960s.
