Ivaylo Natzev was born on March 14, 1970 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated Sofia High School of Mathematics, Sofia, Bulgaria High-School Diploma and a Computer Programmer Certificate, April 1988; Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria M.Sc., Electronics and Automation, April 1994; Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria Certificate in Applied Sound Engineering, March 1995. He worked as Research Assistant (1992-1993) in Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. He was a Broadcast Sound Mixer and Engineer (1993-1994) in Radio Station "Signal Plus", Sofia, Bulgaria. He was responsible for the selection, editing, and playback of musical pieces; recording and broadcasting of commercials; equipment installation and technical support. Then he was a Broadcast Sound Mixer (1994-1995) in Radio Station "7 Days", Sofia, Bulgaria. He performed mixing and broadcasting of the radio's program; recording of songs, commercials, and announcements. Since 1995 to 1999 he was a Sound Engineer, Mixer and Editor in Army Audio-Visual Center, Sofia, Bulgaria, where he operated and maintained the studio's audio equipment, and performed sound design, recording, editing, and mixing of TV documentaries and training videos, and helped produce more than 35 TV documentaries. He is a member of Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers, a member of Audio Engineer Society. He is a Head of Sound Department and Chief Sound Engineer in Nu Boyana Film Studios (formerly Boyana Film Studios), Sofia, Bulgaria. He has supervised and performed all audio-related client engagements; consulting, and post-production projects, including sound design and editing, mixing, and print mastering. He completed training at Dolby Labs Inc., U.K., for all Dolby SR and Dolby Digital film mixing and mastering work. Overseeing and performing equipment installation, alignment, and maintenance, thereby ensuring a highly reliable and uninterrupted service at the Recording and Mixing Sound Studios. The position requires in-depth understanding, administration, and operation of complex audio/video equipment and peripherals, including Digital Audio Workstations. He is a Location / Production Sound Mixer and/or Boom Operator. He has abilities to perform all kind of audio related work when filming on Location as a Freelance. This includes Location Sound Mixer, Special Sound Effects Gathering and Recording, Boom Operator, Location Sound Engineer and Supervisor. He has solid background in film shooting on location for more than 15 years; he took part in the location sound crews of more than 30 Bulgarian or foreign film projects. The job requires skills to quickly adapt to different, difficult and often extreme shooting conditions and locations without affecting the quality of the product; abilities to communicate and work with many people in the film crew; very good and strong discipline. He was a lecturer in New Bulgarian University , Film and Television Department, Sofia, teaching elective course "Theory and practice of Sound Technologies for Film and TV". He has special qualifications: Dolby-qualified and approved Studio Sound Engineer & Mixer with extensive experience in sound design, recording, editing, and mixing of feature films, music and TV productions. He worked on over 80 feature films and 35 documentaries. He is experienced Production Sound Mixer, Engineer and Boom Operator on location; he participated in more than 40 movie productions filmed in Bulgaria or abroad. He has comprehensive Electronic Engineering background and excellent skills in research, installation, operation, and maintenance of complex professional studio electronic equipment and devices. He has extensive experience with professional audio/video software, hardware, and dedicated electronic and measuring equipment. He could manage operating Systems: Windows, Mac OS and applications. He knows Bulgarian (fluent), English (advanced), Russian (intermediate).
