Matthias Guntner grew up in Upper-Austria, a place famous for its musical culture and tradition. He received his first piano lessons at the age of seven and became student of a professional pianist in 2015. Guntner started his composition studies in 2017 at the young age of 15 with a professor from Anton Bruckner University in Linz (Upper-Austria). After graduating from school and a year of community service, Guntner now studies composition and music theory at University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna as well as business at Vienna University of Business and Economics.
As a member of Oejfv, an Austrian young filmmakers association, Guntner has been able to collect experience in film making since a relatively early age. In addition, he has worked as a freelance composer for film and video game music since 2022, his first notable contributions being the soundtrack of Lagrangian Point (2022) as well as the music for several indie short films and video game projects.
