Born in Manhattan, Jake Davis is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of
the Arts and nominated MTV student visionary filmmaker. While still in
film school Jake was recruited by the advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy
to direct a short film for Nike. From the success of that
collaboration, the relationship developed into several more innovative
projects. Jake continued to create slice-of-life grassroots promos and
industrials for Nike, as well as long-form concert videos, tour
visuals, and EPK's for Sony, Columbia, Fat Beats, and a host of other
record labels.
Upon graduation in 2002, he was signed on to document the Anger
Management Tour featuring Eminem, Papa Roach, Ludacris, Xzibit, and the
X-ecutioners. The DVD "Built To Scratch" released by Koch Entertainment
is the result of that production.
Jake's multi award-winning student film "At Low Resolution" premiered
at the inaugural Tribeca Film Festival and was invited to numerous film
festivals around the globe. It's distributed by Amazefilms and Damah
Films on DVD. Jake's second short film "Come Lovely" played the
festival circuit including the Hamptons, LA, Miami, and Rhode Island
International Film Festivals among others. It was also a Finalist in
the Academy Awards Live Action Short category.
Jake is currently directing, producing, and editing music videos,
commercials, and original shows for Music Choice. While there he's
worked with a gamut of top artists ranging from rockers, Hawthorne
Heights and Head Automatica to hip-hop king, Kanye West to metal gods,
Lacuna Coil and Flyleaf to newcomers, KT Tunstall and Daniel Powter.
He's also developing the feature film script "Coolhunter," which is
inspired by his work for Nike.
