Writer, cinematographer and director Hiroshi Ishikawa was born on May 18th, 1963 in Akita Prefecture in Japan. He was a television commercial director before taking on full-length films. Known for his minimalistic female-focused films. Ishikawa won the Silver Iris for best director at the New Montreal Film Festival for Sukida, (2005) in 2005.
