Ektoras Koufontinas was born on May 31, 1990 in Athens, Greece, to Dimitris Koufontinas and Angeliki Sotiropoulou. Since he was 6 years old he studied violin at the "Thalis" Music School.
When he was 12 years old, his parents were arrested for their participation in the "Revolutionary Organization 17th of November", and Ektoras moved in with his grandmother. It was then that he found an outlet in acting and began studying theater with Nana Kostidaki.
At 18, when he graduated from school, he passed his exams and was accepted to the National Technical University of Athens where he studied physics without obtaining his degree.
Ektoras is an activist, politicized, and has participated in the Palestine solidarity movement, in initiatives to improve prison life, and in educational mobilizations.
In addition to acting, he is involved in writing books, painting, music, and has written the lyrics for a few songs.
He has worked in many proletarian jobs, such as transporter, waiter, bookseller, cook, bartender, editor, and graphic designer.
