Nicholas Anthony Bird was born and raised beneath the shadow of the San
Gabriel Mountains in Alta Loma, California where he dreamed of one day
becoming a professional baseball player. Unfortunately, during a game
of pick-up football, he blew out his left knee and ended any hopes of a
career in professional sports. After graduating from Alto Loma High
School, he attended Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, and finally
Columbia College - Hollywood in Tarzana, California.
For the past six years, he has been writing and directing feature
motion pictures, film shorts, music videos and commercials. Nick began
his long journey into the world of motion picture directing while
attending Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, where he met Mr. Art
Shepard, Head of the Theater Department. Shepard introduced Nick to the
theater and, more specifically, the idea of directing theater.
After two years at Chaffey College, Nick made the short move west to
Los Angeles and began attending the prestigious Columbia
College-Hollywood. The two also attended a directing class taught by
industry veteran Corey Allen, the man who directed the pilots of such
classic televisions shows as Star Trek: The Next Generation and Murder,
She Wrote and who starred opposite James Dean in the classic 1955 film,
Rebel Without A Cause. During this time Nick also worked as an intern
for Mark Canton at The Canton Company and was involved in such films ad
Angel Eyes with Jennifer Lopez and the remake of Get Carter starring
Sylvester Stallone.
After graduation, Bird attended one of the best acting schools in the
country, Playhouse West, in hopes of honing his skills as a director.
In doing so he was afforded the opportunity to work with such talented
actors as Jeff Goldblum, Scott Caan, James Franco and Mark Pellegrino -
all of whom he forged long-lasting friendships with. He also directed
several music videos, commercials and short films including one
entitled The Bathroom, a dramatic comedy that delves into the
relationships of various people at an engagement party.
