Lika Bugaeva is a Ukrainian musician, composer and songwriter. Leader of the indie rock band Zetetics. Member of the National All-Ukrainian Music Association.
On May 6, 2014, the debut album Finally I See was released, which became one of the best Ukrainian albums in 2014, according to Inspired. The band was among the top 15 impressive musicians in the special TSN project Listen to Ukrainian.
On November 6, 2015, the debut music video for the song Fly Away was released, which entered the top 25 tracks of 2014, according to Cultprostir. It gained popularity because the performance of the lyrics was also in sign language - so that the song could be heard by those who could not hear. The official Twitter of Ukraine said it recommends this clip for viewing nationwide.
In May 2015, the single You Would Never Know was released ahead of the second album. On May 15, 2015, she performed at the first festival of new Ukrainian music SVOÏ in Lviv.
On September 3, 2015, the third single from the upcoming album, Rainbow, was released, which also became one of the most listened to in Ukraine.
On October 8, 2015, Bugaeva changed the name of her band from Lika Bugaeva to Zetetics. On the same day, the second album was released under the name Zetetic, which consists of ten English-language songs. This record was recognized as one of the best albums of 2015 in Ukraine, according to BeeHype, Comma and Cultprostir. On October 22, the album Zetetic was presented with a concert at the ATLAS club in Kyiv.
The Ukrainian News Agency and Gazeta.ua noted the high quality of the show, sound and light. The concert Zetetics-Live in Kyiv was included in the rating of the best music films of the year, according to the MusicInUa portal. The album became one of the best Ukrainian albums in 2015, according to Comma.
On May 19, 2016, a large acoustic concert of Zetetics - Unplugged took place at the Fedoriv Hub. In September of the same year, a concert film was released, which was a great success. Later that year, Zetetics' album Unplugged was released on all music platforms.
On February 22, 2017, the single Even Tonight was released ahead of the third album. A music video for the song was released later that year.
In May 2017, Lika Bugaeva took part in the qualifying round of the Sziget Music Festival, where her band reached the final, receiving the most votes from the audience.
In the spring of 2017, Bugaeva went on an acoustic European tour, where she performed in the central squares of cities, thereby telling and showing what Ukrainian music is now. They visited six cities, including Budapest, Venice, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. During the tour, they managed to win the love of the European public.
In September 2019, she presented her third studio album 11:11.
In 2020, Zetetics was selected to be the official diplomatic contemporary music catalog of Ukraine by the Ukrainian Institute. Thanks to this, the Ukrainian Institute will recommend the group to represent Ukraine abroad. The winners were selected by an international jury - directors of leading international festivals and showcases, outstanding performers and conductors, music critics and journalists from Austria, Germany, Lithuania, The Netherlands and Poland.
In 2021, Lika Bugaeva became a member of the National All-Ukrainian Music Association.
On November 24, 2021, the band presented their fourth studio album Cold Star with AWAL label.
Lika Bugaeva composed music for the full-length film Forever-Forever, which was released in 2023. Lika's debut as a film composer took place at the Venice Film Festival, Orizzonti Extra Competition, where the film was premiered. The film is about late 90s Kyiv. It's a story of the young and rebellious - those who had to grow up faster due to the circumstances but got lost in the adult world.
