Eric S. Dow is an award winning filmmaker born in Toledo, Ohio. He
attended the University of Toledo where he put his boundless energy
into film making. Though he was still learning his craft, he began
entering (and winning) local film festivals.
In the spring of 2003, Eric left school and moved to Los Angeles. Just
three days after his arrival, he landed a job working as a production assistant
on the "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" Special Extended Edition DVD. Soon
after, he worked in post production for the legendary short film Batman: Dead
End, which would later lead to him making a feature length documentary on the
making of the film. In 2004, Eric shot and edited the music video "Get Your Dead
On" for the band Scum of the Earth, which aired on MTV.
In December 2005, Eric moved to the NY area and hit the ground running, shooting
and editing for the popular web sitcom, "The Burg". He went on to establish a
successful freelance career cutting promos for Nickelodeon, Showtime, and
Logo, along with editing several short films and sizzle reels.
In July 2009, Eric finished writing, producing, directing, and editing
his feature length documentary "Honor in the Valley of Tears"
about Medal of Honor recipient David H. McNerney and his men from
A-Company 1/8,4th infantry division during the Vietnam War.
"Honor in the Valley of Tears" was selected to screen at five film festivals
and went on to win two audience awards for best documentary at Dances with
Films, and the Louisville International Festival of Film. Eric and producer
John A. Ponsoll signed a deal with The Documentary Channel where the film
would air for the next two years.
From 2009 to 2015 Eric was an editor on several successful reality television series
including; "Pawn Stars", "American Restoration", "Counting Cars", MTV's "True Life",
"Hardcore Pawn", among others. During this time he also completed editing the 3D
Sci-fi feature film "Shockwave, Darkside" for director, Jay Weisman. From there, Eric went on
to complete the feature length documentary Behind the Mask: The Batman Dead End Story
chronicling the career of Sandy Collora and his legendary short film. The documentary
streamed on Hulu.
In 2015, Eric moved back to Los Angeles where he post-produced and edited several
promotional materials for Sony Pictures Entertainment. Titles included; "Pixels",
"Goosebumps", "Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies", "Angry Birds", "Ghostbusters", "Spectre", and
the Denzel Washington remake of "The Magnificent 7".
Late 2016 Eric produced and edited the short horror film "Shallow Water" for director
Sandy Collora. The film starred Lisa Romain in the lead role of Diana who cleverly evades
several creatures in the jungles of Mexico.
2017 brought Eric back to New York where he joined the post production team of the long
running HGTV show "House Hunters International" where he has produced and edited over 70
episodes and counting.
