Crossed Over (2002)
Plot: Based on the memoir Crossed Over: A Murder, A Memoir by Beverly Lowry, this made-for-television film tells the true story of the unlikely and profound relationship that develops between two women. Beverly Lowry (Diane Keaton) is a grieving mother, still struggling with the emotional fallout of her troubled son's death four years earlier. Reading about Karla Faye Tucker (Jennifer Jason Leigh), a convicted murderer on death row, intrigues Beverly by the contrast between the seemingly sweet, pretty woman and the horrific nature of her crimes. Beverly begins visiting Tucker in prison, and through their complex, monthly meetings, they form a deep and healing friendship. The connection helps Beverly come to terms with her unresolved personal issues and find a renewed sense of purpose, while also putting a strain on her marriage.
