I'll Name the Murderer (1936)
Plot: Broadway gossip columnist Tommy Tilton finds himself embroiled in a real-life murder mystery when a blackmailing nightclub singer, Nadia Renee, is stabbed to death in her dressing room. Tommy's college friend, Ted Benson, becomes the primary police suspect, as he was desperately trying to retrieve incriminating love letters from Nadia on the night of the murder. Convinced of his friend's innocence, Tommy uses his popular newspaper column, "Tattle-Tales Along Broadway," to print veiled threats and clues, hoping to flush out the real killer. His investigation deepens and becomes dangerous after another woman connected to the case is found murdered, forcing Tommy to lay a trap with the victim's stolen jewelry to coax the true culprit into the open.
