Sagebrush Trail (also released as An Innocent Man)
Year: 1933
Plot: John Brant, wrongly convicted of murder, escapes from prison and heads west, determined to find the real killer. He is rescued by an outlaw named Joseph Conlon, who goes by the alias "Jones," and is subsequently taken in by Jones's gang, using the new alias "Smith." In a dramatic turn of events that can only happen in the movies, Brant discovers that his new friend, Jones, is the very man who committed the murder for which he was imprisoned. Now, with the real killer a close friend who is unaware of Brant's true identity or past, Brant must navigate the dangerous gang, thwart their robberies, protect an innocent girl he is falling for, and eventually find a way to clear his own name without betraying the friend he has come to value.
