Swing State 2017 is a movie about Mark Vance, a disgraced political strategist who, in 2017, retreats to his small, politically polarized hometown in a crucial "swing state," hoping to escape his past scandals. He finds the community deeply fractured by post-election bitterness and pervasive disinformation spread by both local agitators and unseen foreign entities. His quiet return is disrupted when his estranged daughter, a passionate but naive college activist, becomes entangled in a dangerous online movement advocating for secession. When a local journalist investigating the disinformation campaign mysteriously disappears, Mark realizes that the political tensions are being deliberately escalated.
