Plot: Vaudeville star Grace Hayes has secretly been supporting her college-aged son, Peter Kendricks, who was raised by his wealthy but now-broke paternal grandfather and is unaware of his mother's identity. Tiring of the road, Grace goes incognito to Midwick College with her assistant, Mary Healy, only to find her son has become a spoiled, egotistical "show-off" and the college is financially floundering. To instill some values in Peter and help the school, Grace buys the local student café and converts it into a lively nightclub. She hires the students, including Peter, as performers to help raise the necessary funds and spirit for the college's survival, eventually leading Peter to discover his mother's true identity and find love with Mary Healy.
