13 (2010) is a tense, if flawed, remake of Géla Babluani’s gritty 13 Tzameti. Sam Riley shines as Vince, a desperate electrician thrust into a chilling underground Russian roulette game, delivering raw fear and resolve. The stellar cast—Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Ray Winstone, and Michael Shannon—adds grit, though some, like Rourke’s aimless subplot, feel underused. Shannon’s unhinged emcee steals scenes, but the film’s choppy pacing and weak backstories dilute the suspense. Unlike the original’s stark dread, this version leans too hard on Hollywood gloss, making it a gripping yet uneven thriller. Watch it for the cast and tense core concept, but the original’s raw edge wins out.
