"The Wake" 2017 centers on a secluded island community that holds an ancient tradition: when a resident dies, one person is chosen to keep vigil by the body until burial, believed to ward off evil spirits. When a young woman is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the task falls to a troubled outsider. As the wake progresses through the long, dark night, strange and unsettling events begin to occur, blurring the line between grief, superstition, and a potential supernatural presence.
