The Wrong Road (1937)Plot: A young, unmarried couple, whose initial plans for a successful life together have failed to materialize, decides to take a desperate and criminal chance. The boyfriend, who works at a bank, orchestrates the theft of $\$100,000$. Their plan is to hide the money in a safe place, confess to the crime, serve out their prison sentences (banking on a relatively short term for first-time offenders), and then collect the money once they are free and reformed. The plan goes smoothly up until their release from prison, at which point they find themselves being relentlessly pursued by two different parties: a sympathetic insurance investigator who wants to see them go straight, and the boyfriend's dangerous former cellmate, who is determined to get a cut of the hidden loot.
